Our Sailing Journey

Land Workshop
The Journey Starts on Land:
An Introduction to Sailing

Before setting sail, the journey begins on land in a fully equipped classroom, where participants step into a dynamic learning environment designed to set the tone for the day. Here, key navigation concepts are introduced in a simple and engaging way so that everyone, regardless of prior experience, feels ready to participate.

The session also serves to explain the different roles on board —from helmsman to trimmer, from bow to communicator— highlighting their responsibilities and how they contribute to the crew’s success.Beyond the technical aspects, the workshop emphasizes collaboration, trust, and adaptability.

Through interactive dynamics, participants start building the mindset they will need once they face real sailing missions at sea.By the time the group leaves the classroom, they are no longer just colleagues or teammates: they are a prepared crew, aligned with a common goal and ready to navigate together.

Practices, Roles and Missions

At the beginning, the captain will guide us through the boat’s mechanisms, showing how to handle them before the session starts. This short briefing sets the base for everyone to feel confident on board.

At the start, each participant assumes a clear sailing role, from steering to trimming, from bow work to communication. As missions unfold, roles rotate, fostering adaptability and shared responsibility.

During the 3-hour sailing session, the crew faces practical challenges designed to test decision making, coordination and problem solving. Each mission becomes a real exercise in teamwork, where success depends on moving as one crew.

Relaxation

Not everything is about action and challenges. Midway through the journey, the crew takes a strategic break to simply enjoy the sea. It’s a time to disconnect from the missions, share conversations, and let the wind and horizon do their part.

A moment dedicated to the team’s wellbeing: swimming in open water, tasting selected tapas, or raising a glass of cava together.

These pauses create space for genuine connection, turning the group into more than just a crew —into companions who have shared something unique.

FAQ's

You ask, we answer

What exactly is Orza?

Orza is a Team Building experience that uses sailing as a real-world platform to develop team skills, shared leadership, and adaptability. It’s not just a day out — it’s a transformational tool built around nature, challenge, and connection. We call it: Crew Building

Do we need any sailing experience?

Not at all. Orza is designed for people with zero nautical knowledge. The experience starts with a clear, practical briefing, and all activities are guided by expert facilitators to ensure safety and accessibility for everyone.

How long does the experience last?

The full Orza experience lasts around 4 hours: one hour of classroom training followed by three hours of guided sailing. It’s a compact yet powerful format designed to maximize impact without taking a full day.

What kind of skills does Orza develop?

Shared leadership, effective communication, resilience, adaptability, empathy, active listening, and real-time decision-making — all practiced in the unpredictable environment of the sea.

What if someone is afraid of the sea or can’t swim?

That’s totally fine. The experience is designed to feel safe and supportive for everyone. Life jackets are available on board at all times, and we sail close to shore in calm conditions. You don’t need to know how to swim to participate.

What makes Orza different from traditional team building?

Orza is built on a methodology that blends experiential learning, guided reflection, and real sailing challenges. It doesn’t simulate teamwork — it puts it into practice under real conditions. Instead of artificial games, teams face authentic situations that require coordination, adaptability, and shared leadership. The facilitator guides each moment to turn action into insight, and experience into growth.

Where does Orza take place?

Our main base is in Barcelona, with departures from the local marina. Custom formats can also be organized in other locations depending on availability and group needs.
